CDRC Services

Services to Parents

  • Free referrals to child care, recreation programs and community services in Santa Cruz County;
  • A centralized information and referral network can help parents locate child care that meets their individual needs. CDRC operates the state-funded referral services for Santa Cruz County. This service provides information on licensed family child care homes, child care centers, recreation programs, and license exempt providers and programs that wish to be in the referral files. Child care providers must request enrollment to be in the referral files.
  • Parenting information and assistance;
  • Workshops on parenting and family issues;
  • Information about financial assistance for child care expenses for low-income families who are working or in school or training programs;
  • Publication of Choosing Child Care brochures in English and Spanish on how to select child care services for families;
  • Trustline Registry, for fingerprinting license-exempt providers.
Preschool children

Services to Child Care Providers

  • Free referrals for child care programs and family child care homes;
  • Recruitment and training of potential and existing child care providers;
  • Technical assistance to existing providers in program development, sustainability and expansion services;
  • Publication of the CDRC Newsletter, a newsletter for child care providers;
  • Publications on child care issues;
  • Workshops;
  • Early Education Resource Library of print and video materials in English and Spanish;
  • Accreditation assistance.

Services to the Community

  • Advocacy at local and state levels for children, families, and child care providers;
  • Coordination and facilitation of communication between community agencies, public officials and child care providers;
  • Provision of child care information to public boards, commissions, school districts, planning councils, city and county departments, and the media;
  • Collection and dissemination of statistics on child care needs and supply;
  • Lending of materials through the Early Education Resource Library (for use by human care service agencies and organizations).
